I am a Math nerd that loves cooking and all things home! I grew up in the tiny city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Growing up in this small city, I spent my summers with grandmothers working in their gardens, which included jobs like watering produce to snapping peas on the porch. Those memories I always keep dear to my heart.
My journey in food started when I was a 9-year-old hanging out with my mom in the kitchen. My mom was a fantastic cook because her dishes were perfectly seasoned and eye-catching (food presentation was vital to her). With my mom's guidance, I continued to cook throughout high school by helping nightly cook dinners and whipping up dishes for family celebrations.
After graduating from high school, I attended college at North Carolina A&T State University and earned a degree in Applied Mathematics with a focus in Economics. Right after graduation, I went into teaching and taught Math for eight years.
After my mom died in 2015 at the young age of 42 years old pulmonary fibrosis, I decided to blog about food to keep the memories of her floating around in my mind. My mother's cooking and personality is my inspiration in the kitchen.
With her inspiration in mind, I will share recipes and life happenings. Please join along for the journey!
